El Tequileño Reposado a Taste of Tradition
Anyone who knows anything about tequila has most likely heard of the brand Tequileño. El Tequileño has been making tequila since 1959 and their tequila has maintained its traditional taste and flavor for as long as I can remember.
El Tequileño Reposado is made from 100% blue agave and one of the brands best sellers. I paid $189.00 pesos (10.00 U.S.D) for a 750 ml 38% bottle. The bottle was date stamped 2010.
The bottle is short and thicker but makes it easy to fit in small cabinets, the label is a pale yellow color and has red lettering with a picture of horses and a cart carrying a tequila barrel and some agave, rather rustic and simple.
The color of El Tequileño Reposado is a very light straw color, this bottle which was from 2010 was a bit lighter when I compared it to bottles that were stamped 2014-2016.
The aroma has hints of caramel with vanilla and cooked agave which is very noticeable once you pour it in a glass.
The flavor offers hints of pepper, oak, caramel, and cooked agave, it has a long finish with a lingering agave and pepper taste, this is the real deal and a reposado tequila that has maintained its quality and tradition.
One of the things I like about this reposado is that it goes with just about anything.
You can drink it straight, mix it in margaritas or drink it along with your favorite beer. It also makes a great tequila to serve with your favorite food, dessert, and appetizers.
Regardless if you are a seasoned or novice tequila drinker you can never go wrong with El Tequileño Reposado, it sticks to a true tradition and has maintained its quality over the years.
The company also makes a Blanco, Platino and Gran Reserva, they also sell a Tequileño Especial 50 Aniversario Añejo which if you can still find it I highly recommend it.
If you take a trip to Mexico and are in the state of Jalisco I highly recommend making an appointment to visit the Tequileño distillery, this way you can see first hand how their tequila is made and the history behind it. This is what makes this tequila even more enjoyable, not only are experiencing an incredible tequila you are getting a true taste of Mexican tradition.
